The Patriot Post® · Mexican Cartels Make Bank
Immigrants who are choosing to enter the U.S. illegally have to go through the cartels. The Mexican cartels have a monopoly on the various methods of getting into the U.S. through gaps in the border wall. But though the migrants have the freedom to choose to enter the U.S. this way, the cartels are happy to inflict as much misery and extortion as they can and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis created by President Joe Biden’s open border.
Smuggling illegal immigrants is big business. The House Judiciary Committee published a claim by Border Patrol that the Mexican cartels rake in $32 million a week from illegal immigrants desperate to cross the southern border.
🚨 #BREAKING: Border Patrol estimates that the cartels are earning $32 million a week from illegal aliens in the Del Rio, Texas sector alone.

$32,000,000.
PER WEEK.
That number is only for one stretch of the southern border known as the Del Rio sector in Texas. There are several other points of entry spread out across the border states, including ocean crossings.
The Washington Times says: “Del Rio averaged a little more than 10,000 migrants a week in November, the latest month for which Homeland Security has released full records. That works out to about $3,200 per migrant, or nearly $1.7 billion a year from that one sector.”
$3,200 is relatively cheap compared to other reporting from illegal immigrants. Cartels charge top dollar for points of entry that have higher chances of successful evasion of Border Patrol. One example the Times cites is “$20,000 for migrants who get brought in by Jet Ski in southern California.”
That is plenty of financial incentive for the cartels to fight tooth and nail for their smuggling routes.
Just last month, a disturbing incident was reported at a gap in an Arizona rancher’s fence. Rival cartels were having a turf war, which caught the attention of authorities on both sides of the southern border. The Mexican army discovered 10 IEDs on its side of the fence.
When you think about the sheer volume of illegals who are crossing the border — 300,000 in December alone, and those are just the ones they caught — that $1.7 billion number is likely higher. The cartels are not only making money from simply smuggling desperate people over the border, they are exporting illegal drugs and exploiting women and children on top of making them pay. They are a menace that is helping to wreak havoc on the American people.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has promised to use the military to fight off the cartels should he become president of the United States. This is an interesting proposition and a popular one.
Former President Donald Trump has promised to begin a “record setting deportation operation.” And as for the cartels, Trump has promised to “invoke the Alien Enemies Act to remove known or suspected gang members, drug dealers, or cartel members from the United States.”
President Biden’s dereliction of duty in protecting the southern border has made border security the No. 2 issue for the 2024 presidential election. Biden and his radical flank continue to whistle past the graveyard at their peril.
