Taylor Swift seems to be inescapable these days. Her music and presence are everywhere, and some conservative commentators have concluded that this is a government psyop. Perhaps it is, or perhaps it’s not. But the real question is: What makes Taylor Swift so popular among girls and women?

The answer is quite simple. Swift and her music represent the experience of many young single women in today’s culture. Swift fans, also known as Swifties, say she is unlike the other pop stars.

Swift is known for writing songs about her breakups with famous boyfriends. Most of her relationships have been short-term, lasting a few months to a year. This type of relationship has become the norm in today’s dating scene.

Single women take to social media to comment on how difficult the dating arena currently is. Women describe men who are not looking for a relationship or are not interested in marriage. Some also describe getting into relationships and ending them months later when they learn the man is not interested in marriage or children. The women are left hopeless and brokenhearted. This is why Swift’s music speaks to them. Her dating experience is the dating experience of today’s young single women.

Unlike most of today’s pop stars, Swift is more modest and open to marriage and starting a family. It’s hard to conclude that young women today are modest, but it is true that most do hang on to the hope of marriage and motherhood. Women have been waking up from the lies that feminism sold to them and their mothers.

For so long, feminism told women that a career offered more fulfillment than marriage and motherhood ever would. Feminism convinced women that sexual deviancy was liberating and empowering. Women are now learning that this is not true, and it can be suspected that Swift may have similar beliefs based on the type of songs she is known for.

Conservatives have been wondering if Swift should be a role model for girls and young women. The answer is: It depends. It is true that Swift is not as morally bankrupt as most pop stars, but she does not hold conservative values, at least not publicly. In fact, Swift has been public about her support for abortion and the unhinged LGBTQ agenda. Some can separate an artist’s personal beliefs from that artist’s talent, and others cannot. As for Christian conservatives who are firm in faith, Swift is not one to prop up as a role model for girls and young women.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of Taylor Swift, we should all root for her happiness and hope that she does get to experience the fulfillment that can be found in marriage and motherhood. Perhaps her best music is yet to come.
