The Patriot Post® · The 'Big Gretch' Boomlet
Gretchen Whitmer is ambitious if nothing else. So it makes perfect sense that the two-term governor of the must-have state of Michigan was sounding the alarm in the wake of Joe Biden’s panic-inducing debate implosion last week.
Yes, Whitmer pushed back on the Politico report that she’d said Michigan was no longer winnable for the Big Guy after his awful debate performance, but no one who knows her actually believes that.
“I am proud to support Joe Biden as our nominee and I am behind him 100% in the fight to defeat Donald Trump,” she said in damage control. “Not only do I believe Joe can win Michigan, I know he can because he’s got the receipts: he’s lowered health care costs, brought back manufacturing jobs and is committed to restoring the reproductive freedom women lost under Donald Trump.”
For good measure, Big Gretch also took to X and dropped an expletive: “Anyone who claims I would say that we can’t win Michigan is full of s***. Let’s go.”
Here, it might help to remind ourselves just who Gretchen Whitmer is. Among other things, she’s a liar and a hypocrite and a privileged elitist. And somehow, she escaped accountability for her deadly Cuomoesque mismanagement of the state’s nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
And let’s not forget about the notorious Whitmer “fednapping” plot — the one that was orchestrated by the FBI and was pushed to fruition less than a month before the 2020 presidential election, just in time for both Whitmer and then-candidate Joe Biden to conveniently decry the white supremacists in our midst and blame Trump for encouraging that culture of hate.
If we didn’t know better, we’d say it was election interference.
Yes, after a series of courtroom embarrassments, the FBI eventually secured some convictions for the gullible dolts it entrapped, thanks to a friendly judge who may have behaved unconstitutionally. But to what end, and at what cost to the bureau’s once-proud reputation?
But, again, Whitmer is ambitious. And with the Leftmedia’s help, she can rebrand herself not as the victim of a fake kidnapping plot but as the twice-elected, results-oriented governor of a critical Midwest state. After all, if Biden does drop out, who else do the Democrats have — Gavin Newsom? And where has he been lately — witness protection?
In a remarkable coincidence, Whitmer’s seven-figure Simon & Schuster memoir will hit the shelves on July 9, just in time to introduce her to a national audience amid ever-increasing calls for Biden to drop out of the presidential race.
I wonder if Big Gretch shot any dogs or stared down any commie despots along the way. Fact-checkers, though, will likely sit this one out.
If Democrat poohbahs ultimately decide that they want Whitmer at the top of the ticket, they’ll have to play some kind of conventional Twister to get her there. Biden says he isn’t going anywhere, and even if he does, his mixed-race veep is next in line. And no one checks Democrat boxes better than a Bay Area progressive of Jamaican-Indian descent who grew up in Canada and whose ancestors were slaveowners.
As incompetent and unlikable as she is, though, Kamala Harris has enjoyed something of a renaissance of late. In a new CNN poll, she’s doing better against Donald Trump than Joe Biden is. She’s trailing him by two points, while Biden is trailing him by six. This might be an anomaly, or it might be pollaganda, or it might be a sign that some of those low-information voters were watching last Thursday’s debate. I say this because she’s consistently been the only pol in America less popular than her decrepit boss.
Summing up: We’ll need to stay tuned to see how all this plays out with Caesar Biden. And we’ll need to keep an eye on Brutus Whitmer.
