The Patriot Post® · Desperate Kamala's Vote-Buying Reparations Scheme
Notwithstanding former President Barack Obama’s chiding, many black men are done being patronized, according to presidential election polls. One recent New York Times/Siena survey found that 20% of the black vote (mainly composed of black males) is going not to Kamala Harris but to former president Donald Trump.
Suffice it to say that the Harris campaign is in panic mode. Consequently, last week, Harris dropped some constitutionally questionable campaign promises to entice black males to vote for her. The “Opportunity Agenda for Black Men” envisions:
Provide 1 million loans that are fully forgivable up to $20k for Black entrepreneurs and others to start a business
Support education training, and mentorship programs that lead to good-paying jobs for Black men, including pathways to become teachers
Protect cryptocurrency investments so Black men who make them know their money is safe
Launch a national health initiative focused on the illnesses that disproportionately impact Black men
Legalize recreational marijuana and create opportunities for Black Americans to succeed in this new industry

It’s reparations to buy votes, plain and simple. (It’s also anti-white racism, but what else is new?)
For Harris, this must feel like something genuine. She has long been on the reparations bandwagon — though, for the sake of this election, she is happy to flip-flop so people don’t know her actual position. She has talked about and advocated for reparations publicly for years, starting in California.
For its part, California did explore reparations (which was doubly stupid since it wasn’t a slave state), but after tallying the cost, it balked. According to The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh, California lawmakers “suggested that ‘reparations’ shouldn’t consist of cash payments after all, after Gavin Newsom pointed out that the state is broke and doesn’t have the ability to pay anything. This was a whole conversation that lasted for years, in Harris’ home state. But apparently she’s not aware of this conversation. She wants to keep having it, again and again, for the rest of time.”
Like many radical leftist positions, such as climate change alarmism, state indoctrination of our school children, and “transgender rights,” pro-reparations is a luxury position — one that elitists hold because it doesn’t affect them and they don’t actually have to abide by those beliefs.
In Harris’s case, her own lineage includes a slave-owning Irishman. She’s happy to talk about reparations as long as she can continue to make money off being a professional phony. More than that, though, Harris is completely disconnected from what a sizable number of black voters want. They don’t want to be patronized.
As one Fox News interviewee stated, “Black men aren’t a monolith. We vote based on policies, too. We don’t [vote] based on identity.” Another interviewee pointed out that what Harris is offering is more government dependency for black men and black families.
Black men are interested in autonomy — in becoming entrepreneurs and joining in the great American tradition of pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps, not the Nanny Government’s apron strings. It’s that very government dependency that has been holding back the black community since the inception of the Great Society.
Should the polling numbers hold true and Trump garner a relatively stunning percentage of the black vote, what an incredible indictment of the Democrat radicals that would be. These constituents are tired of being treated like idiots and constantly being chastised should they dare to step out of the party line.
