It’s an infuriating thought, but you’d better get used to it: The Democrat-Media Complex is akin to a crime racket.

We can say this with confidence now that Special Counsel Robert Hur’s interview of then-president Joe Biden has been leaked and is there for all of us to consider. What it reveals is precisely what thoughtful and reasonably discerning people have known and reported for years: Joe Biden wasn’t even remotely fit to be president and commander-in-chief. Take this passage, for example, in which a rambling and discombobulated president can’t even remember what year his son Beau died:

“Remember,” mumbles the former president, “in this time frame, um, my son is either been deployed or is dying, um, and uh, and so it was, uh, and by the way, there were still a lot of people at the time when I got out of the Senate that were encouraging me to run in this period, uh, except the president.”

As The Wall Street Journal reports, “Shortly after misremembering the year of his son’s death, Biden also got confused about when President Trump was elected to his first term. He queried whether it was in November 2017 and someone informed him it was 2016. … Biden couldn’t remember the words ‘fax machine’ on two separate occasions when he was describing a library in his Wilmington, Del., lake house.”

Indeed, afterward, Biden lashed out at the special counsel for having brought his son’s death into the interview. “How in the hell dare he raise that?” said Biden. But in fact, as the tape clearly reveals, it was Biden himself who did so.

Anyway.

Later on in the interview, Biden straight-up admits that he, during his time as Barack Obama’s vice president, knowingly pilfered and stored in multiple insecure places classified materials about Afghanistan “for posterity’s sake.” That there, folks, is an admission of guilt, but Hur ultimately declined to prosecute Biden for the very crime that Donald Trump had already been indicted for. Why? Because the emperor has no memory. More precisely, as Hur wrote, a Beltway jury would never convict “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

In our nation’s capital, then, the apparent standard for criminal indictment in the face of an admission of guilt is whether a rigged DC jury will convict.

But what the Hur tape also reveals is even more unsettling: The Democrats and the mainstream media engaged in a massive, years-long cover-up to keep the truth from you.

We’ve long argued that there are two tiers of justice in this country when it comes to politics — one for those on the Left and another for those on the Right. But now we know that there are two tiers of media coverage as well. Otherwise, a “serious” “journalist” like Jake Tapper wouldn’t only now, today, 120 days since Joe Biden left the White House, be releasing his revisionist history about the Biden years.

Tapper had four years to observe and communicate the plain-as-day truth about Biden’s cognitive decline, but he refused to do so. But Tapper didn’t just stare at his shoes; didn’t just kick the can down the road. Instead, he enlisted with the Democrat Party’s Praetorian Guard and helped prop Biden up, attacking anyone who dared question the mental competence of the guy who, ahem, beat Donald Trump.

“I think some of the criticism is fair, to be honest,” Tapper only now admits. “Knowing then what I know now, I look back at my coverage during the Biden years — and I did cover some of these issues, but not enough — I look back on it with humility.” Translation: He wants you to buy his book.

But that’s not enough, is it? As constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley writes: “The interview shows that in 2023 it was clear that Biden was mentally diminished despite claims from many allies and former aides that there was a sudden loss of capacity just before the disastrous debate in 2024. It is now undeniable that the White House staff actively hid the president’s incompetence from the American public. That includes the White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki (who left her post in May 2022) and her successor, Karine Jean-Pierre, who insisted that Biden was sharp and ‘running circles’ around the staff.”

The question now is: Who was running the country during The Autopen Presidency? Indeed, it didn’t take a genius to suggest nearly five years ago that Biden, were he to win the White House, wouldn’t be the one running the country.

Where’s the congressional oversight into this conspiracy? Where’s the investigation? Where are the subpoenas?

The Hur tape is the smoking gun of a conspiracy to hide the American president’s deeply debilitated mental state from the American people. What did Kamala Harris and Merrick Garland know, and when did they know it? Even with a full accounting for this massive cover-up, can the American people ever again trust the Democrats or the Legacy Media to do the right thing?

That’s a rhetorical question. The answer is a resounding No. This, after all, was the ultimate deal with the devil — a deal between Joe Biden, his fellow Democrats, and the mainstream media: Help us deny Donald Trump a second term, and we’ll ignore your obvious unfitness for office.

Of course, Tapper and his ilk aren’t the only ones to blame. Lady Jill MacBiden, first and foremost, could’ve spared her husband this ignominy and saved the American people from his disastrous term in office, but she desperately wanted to be First Lady. Out, damned spot!

And South Carolina Congressman James Clyburn could’ve refused to endorse Biden before the make-or-break South Carolina Democrat primary. Instead, he propped Biden up, throwing his considerable weight behind the dead man walking who’d finished fourth in Iowa, fifth in New Hampshire, and 26 points behind Bernie Sanders in Nevada. And for what reason? Pure politics, including a promise of putting a black woman on the Supreme Court. (As it turned out, this was a lifetime DEI hire who couldn’t explain the landmark Dred Scott decision or even describe what a woman is.)

Even after Biden’s weekend announcement, Clyburn stood by his man. Tapper asked him, “Do you think that Joe Biden really would have been able to perform as president all the way through January 2029, when he would be 86?” Clyburn responded, “Yes, I thought that back then. I still think that, but I don’t know that.”

It’s been a tough week for the 46th president — given his strategically timed cancer revelation — but an even tougher one for the Democrat-Media Complex. No less a lefty than CNN’s Van Jones put it bluntly: “There are people who knew and said nothing. And that is a crime against this republic. And I think the Democrats are going to pay for a long time.”
