SCOTUS upholds TN law banning transing of kids, illegal alien releases into U.S. plummet, Ilhan Omar calls U.S. one of the worst countries in the world, and more.
SCOTUS upholds TN law banning transing of kids: The U.S. Supreme Court ruled this morning in United States v. Skrmetti that a Tennessee law banning the bodily mutilation of minors does not violate the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause. The law “prohibits all medical treatments intended to allow ‘a minor to identify with, or live as, a purported identity inconsistent with the minor’s sex’ or to treat ‘purported discomfort or distress from a discordance between the minor’s sex and asserted identity.’” The decision has significant implications nationwide, as several other states have passed or are in the process of passing similar legislation. The Court’s three left-wing justices dissented. Effectively, the Court ruled that this was a states’ rights issue, falling outside the federal government’s purview. Furthermore, the justices also indicated concern over whether such “treatments” were actually beneficial. Hint: They’re not.
Illegal alien releases into U.S. plummet: In May of last year, Customs and Border Protection under the Biden administration released 62,000 illegal aliens into the U.S. interior after interdicting them illegally crossing the border. This past May, the total number of illegal aliens released into the U.S. interior by CBP was zero. Furthermore, the total number of migrants encountered illegally entering the U.S. in May totaled just 8,725, representing a 93% decrease from the same period a year ago. Touting the numbers, CBP Acting Commissioner Pete Flores noted, “Border numbers continue to trend at historic lows, reinforcing the sustained success of our enforcement efforts in securing the homeland and protecting American communities.” He added, “This administration has seen the fastest improvement in American border security of all time.”
Ilhan Omar calls U.S. one of the worst countries in the world: Ilhan Omar, who lived in the “nation” of Somalia before coming to America in 1995 at age 13, could be said to know one of the worst countries in the world quite well. However, she recently argued that the U.S. is fast becoming “one of the worst countries” in the world under Donald Trump. She explained that, unlike Somalia, “the military are in our streets without any regard for people’s constitutional rights.” Last month, at least 13 people in line for a military recruitment center were killed in a suicide blast in the Somali capital of Mogadishu. Omar also said the 250th Army anniversary parade was Trump “propping himself up like a failed dictator.” Ilhan Omar is welcome to return to her homeland at any time.
Schwarzenegger says an immigrant should “behave like a guest”: Hollywood celebrity and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger recently appeared as a guest on “The View,” and his comments have gone viral. One of the hosts, Joy Behar, asked if he had a “visceral reaction” to the ICE raids, given that he is an immigrant. To Behar’s surprise, Schwarzenegger responded that he was proud to be “embraced by the American people” and “this is the greatest country in the world and it is the land of opportunity.” He argued, “When you come to America, you’re a guest and you have to behave like a guest.” In fact, he added, “You have a responsibility as an immigrant to give back to America and to pay back America and to go and do something for your community for no money whatsoever. … Make this country a better place.”
Another rogue judge blocks Trump: U.S. District Judge Julia Kobick in Boston has issued a preliminary injunction blocking Trump’s attempt to restrict U.S. passports to only reporting biological sex. The order applies to all people whose gender identity differs from their sex. Someone should tell Judge Kobick that the field on the passport is labeled “sex,” not “gender identity.” Solicitor General John Sauer and the Department of Justice are attempting to rein in these nationwide “cosmic” injunctions. They argued in a filing to the Supreme Court that these injunctions were “virtually unknown” for the first 170 years of our history and remained sparse after that, with the largest upswing occurring in 2025 during the second Trump term.
House Republicans launch probe into U.S. Agency for Global Media: Republican lawmakers on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee launched an investigation into the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) regarding its vetting of foreign nationals who were subsequently awarded grants from the agency. Reps. James Comer and Marjorie Taylor Greene note that USAGM has a budget of nearly $1 billion for the purpose of “informing, engaging, and connecting people around the world in support of freedom and democracy.” However, according to the State Department’s inspector general, “improper grant awards by RFA leadership and the employment of more than 1,500 individuals in sensitive national security roles based on falsified or unauthorized background checks.” The lawmakers further contend that USAGM has misused the J-1 visa program to hire foreign nationals for roles that Americans could have filled, and the inadequate vetting also poses a national security threat.
Baby born to brain-dead woman: Adriana Smith was tragically declared brain-dead earlier this year. Usually, that would have been the end of the story, but she was two months pregnant. Adriana’s body was kept alive on life support, and on Friday, her son Chance was born via emergency C-section at the beginning of the second trimester of gestation. Chance weighs 1 lb 13 oz and is in the neonatal intensive care unit. Pro-death advocates have argued that it was dehumanizing to use a brain-dead woman’s body to save her baby’s life. Adriana’s death was tragic, but allowing her unborn child to die out of some misguided attempt to respect her body’s sanctity in death would have compounded the tragedy. Chance has been given a chance at life, and for that, we give thanks to God.
Oregon justice system lets child killer walk free: It’s a tale of two feminists working hard to avoid the chance that a “black” killer faces justice for his crimes. In December 2013, 15-month-old Kamaya Flores was found dead of methadone in the home of her father, Darian McWoods. Five years later, a case was brought against McWoods in Portland, and a conviction was secured. However, Judge Joney Mooney of Oregon’s Court of Appeals ruled that McWoods did not have a fair trial, reasoning spuriously that the prosecution was racist in denying two unqualified black jurors from participating in the trial. Instead of bringing a new trial that confirmed McWoods’s conviction, Chief Deputy District Attorney Amanda Nadell stepped in to offer a plea deal. McWoods took that plea of first-degree manslaughter and will now walk free in less than two years.
Loudoun County religious discrimination: Virginia’s Loudoun County School District just can’t seem to keep itself out of the news for forcing acceptance of the gender-bender agenda onto school children. After three high school boys expressed their discomfort with having to share a locker room with a girl who identifies as a boy, the district launched a Title IX investigation — into the boys. It has since dismissed a “sexual harassment” charge against one of the boys because he is Muslim, though it has continued to investigate and further charge the other two boys, who are Christian. Legal counsel for all three boys contends, “This is now a case of clear religious discrimination against our two Christian clients. … The same facts were alleged against them all, yet the only difference is their faith.” Virginia AG Jason Miyares has launched an investigation into the school district.
