The Patriot Post® · Who Is Texas's James Talarico?
The Bible has a lot to say about those who distort Scripture.
Proverbs 30: 5-6: “Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.”
Galatians 1:9: “As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.”
2 Peter 3:16-17: “There are some things in [Paul’s letters] that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.”
2 Peter chapter 2 is all about false prophets and how twisting God’s word will bring destruction upon oneself.
This is a much-needed preface because James Talarico, a Texas legislator and Democrat nominee for U.S. Senate, promotes a false gospel.
This week, Talarico beat out U.S. Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett in the primary. In November, he will face either Ken Paxton or John Cornyn — whoever wins the Republican primary runoff.
Talarico, surprisingly, is even further left and more radical than Crockett. His goal is to “reclaim Christianity for the left.” However, he uses his seminary training to twist the word of God in order to promote the same nihilist policies that have been a mainline agenda of the radical Left for some time now. He has also set himself up as the “anti-Christian nationalism” Christian candidate.
Talarico told podcaster Joe Rogan that God asking Mary for consent to be the mother of Christ is an argument for abortion.

He says that God is “nonbinary.”

He also thinks that “God is non-binary.”

He asserts that Galatians 3:28 is “pretty woke for the first century.” That verse states: “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
Here are vv. 26-29 to give that passage some context: “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
Paul is addressing the church in Galatia and explaining that before Christ, we were bound by the law, but after Christ, all are adopted into the kingdom by grace through faith. He is not claiming that gender is a social construct, which is what Talarico is implying.
Talarico was convincing enough to persuade Democrat voters in Texas to advance him to the general election. However, those who voted for him for his “Christian values” likely have never met a genuine Christian or have only a passing acquaintance with the Bible.
First Things contributor Colin Redemer put it best when he stated, “What Talarico is offering is the same program that has been on offer from the mainline left since at least the 1960s: a Christianity evacuated of its doctrinal substance and refilled with the priorities of the Democratic National Committee (if not the Democratic Socialists of America).”
It’s also no coincidence that Talarico is peddling the same radical nonsense that began in the 1960s. Recall that 1963 was the year when the Bible was no longer allowed to be taught in America’s public schools.
Finally, Talarico has declared that he wants to put out the welcome mat for all immigrants to enter (that’s not gonna fly in the border state of Texas) and that having white skin means we are infected with racism.
White skin gives me and every white American immunity from the virus. But we spread it wherever we go—through our words, our actions, and our systems. We don’t have to be showing symptoms—like a white hood or a Confederate flag—to be contagious.

If he’s so white and woke, why did he run against a black woman?
Talarico is a grifter and, worse, a false prophet who is peddling political radicalism with the pretense of Christianity. He is depending on the ignorance of lukewarm Christians and pointedly using the Bible to ease some Democrat voters’ consciences. He is also the latest radical to try out the “I’m a moderate Democrat” scam. But make no mistake: His words paint a very clear picture of where he stands politically and spiritually. If he’s a “moderate,” then the radicals are breathing down his neck.
Just like Beto O'Rourke before him, James Talarico is being touted as a potential candidate to turn Texas blue. While that is still in great doubt, the bigger issue is the blatant misleading of people by citing the Bible inaccurately and out of context. Talarico is acting like someone who doesn’t know and certainly doesn’t fear God. That is a grave mistake and a serious offense that should be called out by all genuine Christians.
