The Patriot Post® · The Left's Vile Attack on Savanah Hernandez
There was an incident in Minneapolis on Saturday, an incident that Democrats and their mainstream media fellow travelers would just as soon memory-hole.
I’m speaking of the sickening attack on a tiny female Turning Point USA journalist named Savanah Hernandez by a family of unhinged leftists — a father, a mother, and a daughter. Hernandez herself captured the attack here, although the language of one of the perpetrators is as vile as it gets.
This is now the second time I have been mobbed and assaulted for filming a protest on U.S. streets.

What we see initially is a reporter, Hernandez — a woman of color, as the mainstream media might call her were they not so hell-bent on burying the story — trying to peacefully document a legitimate news event, an anti-ICE protest at the Whipple Federal Building just outside of Minneapolis. Hernandez is then set upon first by a young woman, since identified as Paige Ostroushko, no doubt the pride of the Wisconsin-Stevens Point Women’s Soccer Team. Ostroushko continually crowds Hernandez while blowing a whistle just inches from her ear. (If you don’t think blowing a whistle in someone’s ear can cause both pain and permanent hearing damage and therefore constitutes assault and battery, try it yourself with a friend. Or maybe just take my word for it.)
What happens next to Hernandez is best captured by this third-person video, which shows Ostroushko throwing a punch at Hernandez before shoving her into a chain-link fence. Then we see an older woman, who identifies herself as Ostroushko’s mother, attack Hernandez. And finally, as Hernandez retreats and says “Stop touching me,” we see a vile, unhinged dirtbag of a man run up behind Hernandez and sucker-shove her to the sidewalk. Eventually, a male protester, a protester who no doubt knows that what he’s just seen makes his side look really bad, helps lead Hernandez to safety.
“This is now the second time I have been mobbed and assaulted for filming a protest on U.S. streets,” said Hernandez afterward. “Today these Minneapolis protesters were chanting that they were ‘ANTIFA’ and proved it, by mobbing and beating me for reporting on a public protest.”
“This is not a right-wing issue,” Hernandez added. “These people are just violent extremists who have been getting away with lawlessness for far too long and they think that this is how they’re allowed to operate now. … The left wing has been the biggest proponent of violence and silencing the voice of their opposition. This is nothing new, and it is an attack on our First Amendment rights.”
Indeed, but since when has the Left ever been concerned about trampling our First Amendment rights?
As KSTP in Minnesota reports, “The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office says it is recommending charges against four people stemming from protests outside the Whipple Federal Building on Saturday. In total, the sheriff’s office said four people were arrested — three of them are tied to the assault of a journalist and a deputy, while the fourth is charged with gross misdemeanor obstruction with force against a deputy.”
But here’s the really good news: The FBI has opened up a federal criminal investigation into the matter.
So the Ostroushkos will have their day in court. Good. That’s essential. But you might be asking yourself, Where were all the men when this big galoot violently shoved Savanah Hernandez to the pavement? Why didn’t a self-respecting man curb-stomp this Ostroushko guy?
I’m sorry, but that’s a dumb question. Men — or at least real men — are a civil society’s shepherds and protectors. Real men understand the importance of law enforcement, which is why you never see them anywhere near these anti-ICE rallies. What you end up with instead, then, is an assortment of narcissistic mostly middle-class white leftist losers who crave attention and who want you to believe that smearing and obstructing the efforts of our duly sworn federal law enforcement agents makes them the modern-day equivalent of the Freedom Riders — which is a vile slur against everyone, living or dead, who fought against the injustices of the Jim Crow South during the 1960s.
What you end up with are people ill-suited to simply singing stupid songs and well-suited to carrying out Trump-deranged dirty work. Think about it: Where were these hooligans when Barack Obama was the deporter-in-chief?
And so, our society is sprinkled with bums like Christopher Ostroushko, whose parents and role models must’ve raised him to believe that it’s okay to beat up women. (I remember the last time I behaved violently toward a member of the fairer sex. I was in grade school, and she was a classmate of mine. And my dad taught me a lesson I’d never forget.)
I’m not sure what kind of federal charges can be brought against the perpetrators of this assault, but let’s hope — no, let’s demand — that the Trump Department of Justice throws the book at them, and that this marks a turning point in the radical Left’s incremental war on civil society.
