The Patriot Post® · We Need an Accurate Diagnosis of America
If my wife or I need to have some sort of medical test done, she always prays for an “accurate diagnosis.” If the diagnosis is accurate, then the treatment plan can address the problem. I think America right now is in desperate need of an accurate diagnosis of both our political and spiritual conditions.
When Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris ran for president, each selected a running mate guaranteed not to outshine them. Hillary Clinton did the same thing, picking the uninspiring Tim Kaine. Kaine, a sitting U.S. senator, recently said that our rights as Americans come not from God but from government. Apparently, he is not familiar with a document called the Constitution!
Progressives believe abortion, healthcare, welfare, and any entitlement that makes their voters happy are imbedded somewhere in the Constitution. They feign agreement with the First and Second Amendments, but only as long as you agree that our Constitution is “evolving” or “living.” Freedom of speech is acceptable — if you agree with them. The right to bear arms is also dependent on gun control infringement.
Different opinions cannot be tolerated. Centuries of settled law and civilized standards have been thrown out to accommodate a new “morality,” with tolerance being a one-way street. Political differences, once discussed calmly (“agree to disagree”), have disappeared. Now you can be doxed, slandered, threatened, beat up, or even killed for having a different opinion from the progressive brownshirts.
How did we fall so far from what the Founding Fathers envisioned for our nation? I know I’m probably preaching to the choir when I say this, but when we took God, the Bible, and prayer out of public schools, the slow grinding efforts of the Marxists and socialists began to accelerate. And 50 years later, here we are. The Founding Fathers envisioned a nation of citizens that followed a higher authority.
“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. … Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” —John Adams (1798)
Scripture provides a foundation for how we are to live our lives. There are consequences if we ignore or violate its moral principles. A lawyer (student of the law) asked Jesus what to do to inherit eternal life. Jesus asked him what he thought it was. He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus marveled at his answer and replied, “Do this, and you will live.” (See Luke 10:25-29.)
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that Christians dropped the ball, big time. The answer to the Left’s hatred is not more hatred. Generations of youth, now young adults, have been blinded by the god of this world, Satan. They believe the original lie that the devil told to Eve in the Garden of Eden: “You can be like god!” I.e. God’s not fair!
Many people don’t love their neighbors as themselves; most people in bigger cities don’t even know their neighbors. Nor do they love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. This has been the subject of my prayers for many years. The world around us doesn’t see anything different in those who claim to be cultural Christians and who aren’t reflecting Jesus in their day-to-day lives.
But that can change in a heartbeat. In a moment, we can be transformed by the power of God and surrender everything we have and everything we are to the One who loves us most. Let’s pray like our lives depend on it. All things are possible with God!
