The Patriot Post® · The Jim Crow Democrats' Grotesque Gambit
In this, the 250th anniversary year of our nation’s founding, as the United States of America continues its rightful and inexorable march toward a fully colorblind society, the retrograde and race-obsessed Democrat Party seeks a return to the Good Ol’ Jim Crow days of segregated Southern schools.
It sounds sick, but it’s true. Yesterday, as the Appropriated Press reports, “The NAACP and Congressional Black Caucus are calling on Black athletes and fans to boycott the athletic programs of public universities in states that are taking steps that the nation’s oldest civil rights group says are restricting Black voting rights.”
What would Jackie Robinson think of these racial arsonists and their efforts to resegregate the South?
But it’s not just these two fringy, race-baiting pressure groups that are endorsing the idea. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries also jumped aboard the overtly racist scheme, decrying those Southern states that have rightly redrawn their congressional maps in accordance with the Supreme Court’s recent Louisiana v. Calais decision banning racial discrimination in the drawing of congressional districts.
“This is an unprecedented moment,” Jeffries demagogued on Capitol Hill yesterday, “featuring an unprecedented attack on black political representation, and therefore it requires an unprecedented response.”
The Man Who Would Be Speaker continued, “We are here standing in solidarity with [the] NAACP in its call for athletes to boycott institutions within the SEC that belong to states that have unleashed these Jim Crow-like racially oppressive tactics, which is unacceptable, unconscionable, and un-American. And we believe that the silence of these institutions is complicity, and we will not stand for it.”
NAACP President Derrick Johnson sang from the same hymnal, accusing Republican-led Southern states of “seeking to reinstitute a sharecropping reality.”
Remind me again: When was sharecropping in its heyday? That’s right: When the Democrats ran the South like a plantation.
Thus, there those leftists go again, projecting onto others precisely that which they themselves are guilty of. Jeffries and Johnson decry the Jim Crow era, and yet they want to resegregate Southern schools. They call these Southern states “racially oppressive,” but what could be more racially oppressive than dictating to mostly poor Southern black families where their athletically talented young men can and can’t go to college?
Here, Jeffries and Johnson and their ilk remind me of Otter in “Animal House”: “I think this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part.” And, indeed, the Democrats are just the guys to do it.
But while that moment might’ve been the Delta House’s finest hour, it won’t be the same for the Democrats. I can already hear the talk among black households all across the South: Lemme get this straight: You want my precious child to go someplace other than the best football schools in the country to hone his craft and prepare himself for the NFL? You want him to forgo the financial opportunity of a lifetime at one of these schools right here in our backyard, where our whole family can watch him play every fall Saturday for the next few years? Is that what you want?
Interestingly, this is also precisely what Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Indiana, and USC want. Oh, yes, by all means, boycott all those football powerhouses in the SEC!
Thus, the Man Who Would Be Speaker is fixated on fighting the last war, the Redistricting War, the war that has already been decisively won by the forces for good, the forces in favor of a colorblind society.
Incidentally, this call for a racial boycott puts the money-grubbing SEC slappies at ESPN in a bit of a pickle, doesn’t it? I mean, as a New England-based network of left-leaning do-gooders, their natural inclination is toward racial discr-, er, toward “social justice.” So on the left hand, they applaud the idea of a race-based boycott that hurts the Republican Party. But on the business-minded right hand, they deplore the idea of putting an inferior product on the air — which SEC football will most definitely be if the next Derrick Henry, Jayden Daniels, Ja'Marr Chase, and Will Anderson go elsewhere to pursue their NFL dreams.
The has-beens at the NAACP specifically called out Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, and South Carolina. But, folks, the truth is that these SEC schools have provided life-changing opportunities for generations of black American families, and they’re now among the most integrated schools in the entire country. And the power-mad, plantation-focused Democrats want to do away with this?
In recent years, our nation’s colleges and universities have come to be seen as indoctrination factories for leftism, as institutions whose goal is to fleece Americans of their hard-earned money while brainwashing their children and undoing everything their parents ever taught them. And to these serious criticisms, the Beltway Elite Democrats are now saying, Hold our Chardonnays!
Go ahead, you filthy race pimps on the Left. Make our day. I’m calling BS on this cynical and grotesque Democrat gambit. It’ll never go anywhere.
