Earlier this week, President Donald Trump said, “For eight years, 10 years, they said, ‘Trump is a Nazi.’ Now they can’t say that anymore because they have a guy with a tattoo on his chest. It’s unbelievable.”

What’s equally as unbelievable as the Democrats backing Nazi tattoo guy Graham Platner was the recent banning of a Jewish Democrat at a coffee shop in Brooklyn.

On Sunday, New York Congressman Dan Goldman visited Poetica Coffee, a chain that has several locations throughout The Big Apple. He entered the establishment with his seven-year-old daughter and had a lovely interaction with the barista, who let his little girl use the restroom even though they hadn’t bought anything. To thank the barista for being so kind, Goldman bought a coffee and tipped the barista.

Later that day, however, Poetica Coffee posted this diatribe on social media:

Hey, Congressman Dan Goldman, we see that you stopped by our shop today for a coffee. Do you see how it doesn’t taste like genocide juice? Or are you still having a hard time telling the difference?

See, here at Poetica, we don’t serve racists, fascists, homophobes, genocide enablers, or anyone in between. Too bad we didn’t recognize you right away, or we would have turned you away. We issued you a refund — we don’t need your money (it’s probably coming from AIPAC anyways [sic]). Enjoy your loss on Tuesday. Don’t ever come to Poetica.

Goldman’s response was dignified, to say the least. He said:

I’m sorry to see this post. The barista could not have been nicer to my 7-year-old daughter and me — allowing her to use the bathroom even though we had not purchased anything. I made sure to buy a coffee in return for her kindness. I hope you at least make sure she gets the tip that she deserved.

The owner of Poetica Coffee is a rabid, woke, anti-Israel leftist. He has several antisemitic posts, including one calling Israel the “Nazi Germany of current time.” He has also minimized stories of the Holocaust and called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “baby killer.” He prides his coffee shop on treating guests with the highest respect and honor, which is ironic, considering his response did not adhere to his own precept.

Goldman was up for reelection on Tuesday. He was the Governor Kathy Hochul-backed candidate in the primary, while Brad Lander was the Mayor Zohran Mamdani-backed opponent. Both Goldman and Lander are Jewish and have very similar policy platforms. The only major difference is that Lander is a self-hating Jew who caters to the pro-Hamas crowd, whereas Goldman supports Israel as the world’s only Jewish state, though not necessarily its current government or policies.

This ever-growing fissure in the Democrat Party is being exacerbated by the pro-terror Democratic Socialist Mamdani. According to Fox News, “Goldman notably did not endorse Mamdani’s mayoral campaign, citing concerns about how his administration would approach Jewish New Yorkers.”

It seems Goldman’s concerns manifested in an extremely personal attack from Poetica Coffee.

Mamdani did not initially respond to the incident, though when the backlash got loud enough, he remarked, “I have many political disagreements with Congressman Goldman when it comes to his votes and his views on Israel. I think what we saw online goes beyond that.” It seems that a smarmy understatement is all Goldman is going to get from Mamdani.

Goldman lost his primary to Lander on Tuesday. For Jewish Democrats who don’t hate Israel, this is a canary-in-a-coal-mine moment.

Thankfully, the Department of Justice is not ignoring Sunday’s antisemitism. “Federal law prohibits public accommodations such as coffee shops from discriminating against patrons based on their race, religion, or national origin,” Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon stated. “These actions are not only reprehensible, they’re potentially illegal.”

It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out. In the meantime, Sunday’s episode should serve as a wake-up call. If the socialists are allowed to get a firmer foothold in the U.S., this is the sort of cruelty we can expect to happen ubiquitously and without much consequence.
