The Patriot Post® · There's a Moral to the Story of ICE Shootings
In Biddeford, Maine, an illegal alien tried to mow down Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers with his vehicle. In response, the officers defended themselves, fatally shooting a Colombian national named Joan Sebastian Guerrero.
Guerrero, who was permitted to work in the U.S., fled a residence that ICE was staking out, although the officers were looking for a different illegal for whom they had a warrant and deportation order. Thinking this might be their man, the officers gave chase.
In the crazy escape, however, Guerrero drove his vehicle toward the ICE officers. An eyewitness, 18-year-old Lucas Scott, stated, “The car was put into drive and was trying to hit the ICE officer.”
There are no videos of the incident — which is a problem. In the wake of the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti earlier this year, ICE officers should be equipped with body cameras for situations like this, but no cameras were issued for these immigration personnel. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin blames the fact that body cameras haven’t been fully distributed on the Democrats’ two partial government shutdowns this year.
Naturally, leftists went crazy. A cadre of their ilk stormed Maine Senator Susan Collins’s office, and other protesters clogged the streets.
It’s the same playbook over and over again: a migrant or anti-ICE protester drives toward an ICE officer, and that officer opens fire in self-defense. Immigration enforcement abolitionists then start talking about how ICE is “killing U.S. citizens.”
This is the second such shooting in the past week. In Houston, Texas, Mexican national Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot by ICE officers because he also tried to run them over with his vehicle. Like Guerrero, Araujo was not the suspect ICE was looking for. Unfortunately, those ICE officers weren’t wearing body cameras either.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is threatening lawsuits. “We cannot turn a blind eye to the Mexicans who have died,” she said. “Especially to Mexicans whose only crime is working honestly in the United States.”
Sheinbaum added that the Mexican people “cannot permit the mistreatment of our brothers” who are living in the U.S.
She’s a fine one to talk. Did you know that hundreds of bags of human remains were discovered buried around the grounds of one of the World Cup stadiums in Mexico? These are the bodies of some of the hundreds of thousands of missing Mexicans who were disappeared by the drug cartels.
Did the Mexican government find them? No. Police and federal law enforcement stopped looking for them long ago. The human remains were found by a group of bereaved mothers who were searching for their murdered and missing children.
The cartels hold a lot of power in Mexico, and they are responsible for countless American deaths.
Suffice it to say, Sheinbaum threatening the U.S. is laughable. If she cared as much for her own people as she did for this lawbreaking migrant in Texas, there would be a lot more cartel members in jail and many more grieving mothers with closure.
As a result of these two shootings, ICE temporarily ended traffic stops for the safety of ICE officers. Then President Donald Trump reversed it, posting on Truth Social, “The Radical Left Dumocrats would like to see this done, but it won’t happen on my watch.”
It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out. In the meantime, the moral of the story for illegal aliens and leftist protesters is this: Don’t try to hit ICE officers with your car. And DHS needs to get those body cameras distributed ASAP.
