The Patriot Post® · NYC Jews Targeted Under Mamdani's 'Leadership'
Mayor Zohran Mamdani has been in office for less than a year, and under his faux leadership, New York City is becoming a Marxist cesspool. The Big Apple has had many bad mayors, but Mamdani is the first one who seems content to foster an environment that targets Jewish New Yorkers.
Antisemitic attacks hit an all-time high in 2024, one year after Hamas’s massacre of Israelis on October 7, 2023. Attacks remain exceedingly high, with this year on track to meet or even surpass 2024.
In July alone, there were 23 attacks on Jewish New Yorkers motivated by antisemitism — a 53% increase from last July. According to the NYPD, there have been 205 antisemitic attacks this year, representing more than half (56.9%) of the hate crimes committed in New York City.
Less than a week ago, a lunatic barged into a synagogue, yelled obscenities at the Jewish worshipers observing Shabbat, head-butted a security guard, and punched a 60-year-old female congregant in the face.
Jews make up 10% of New York City’s population, and attacks against them are only going up. Ironically, this contrasts with other major types of crime that are going down.
Michael Levin, a bestselling author, wrote an open appeal to Mayor Mamdani urging him to curb his anti-Israel rhetoric and verbal attacks against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Levin points out that Jewish New Yorkers have zero effect on Israeli politics because they are Americans and want to live in peace and be protected just like everyone else.
The Wall Street Journal lists Mamdani’s many slights against the Jewish community of New York:
Mamdani was a fierce critic of Israel during the mayoral race last year, accusing its government of committing genocide in Gaza and calling for Palestine to have the right to self-determination. He hasn’t shied away from his views since taking office.
In January some Jewish leaders criticized him for being slow to condemn protesters who shouted pro-Hamas chants outside a Jewish synagogue in Queens. In May he opted not to participate in the city’s Israel Day parade, citing his support of Palestine. The decision was a break in custom from previous mayors who had attended the event.
Mamdani condemns antisemitism with his words but is openly anti-Israel and consistently acts antisemitically. His words and actions don’t seem to match, and the ignorant and hateful are picking up that ball and running with it.
Democrat Assemblyman Sam Berger, an Orthodox Jew representing Queens, has consistently pointed out that Mamdani’s rhetoric is fanning the flames of anti-Jewish hatred. “This is a mayor who has spent his career using divisive rhetoric, particularly aimed at the Jewish community,” he remarked. “Something we have seen throughout his mayoralty is that rather than pulling back from his rhetoric, he has leaned into it.”
While Mamdani’s rhetoric is clearly fanning the flames, there is a bigger problem with what he represents. He is the face of the New Left — a coalition of radical leftism and communism under the guise of socialism, with Islamism thrown in for a little bit of extra spice. Communism is a doctrine of greed, radical leftism is a doctrine of pride, and Islamism is a doctrine of wrath. This is a deadly combination that an awful lot of New Yorkers voted for.
Mamdani is more than just a smarmy leader of America’s biggest city. He represents the future of the Democrat Party — the party of destruction. Jews, who are generally a staunch coalition of the Democrat Party, have been iced out, likely because Islamists are a more aggressive ally in the fight for the Left’s New World Order. It doesn’t matter if Jews agree with Israel or not; they share the same religion and therefore are now targets for radical activists and lunatics.
Unfortunately, New York is getting what it voted for. Fortunately, this may be a wake-up call for the largest Jewish population in the United States.
