The Left generally hates Christianity. Until they can twist it to support their agenda, anyway. Rep. Charlie Rangel was the latest in this tradition, declaring, “Anyone that’s familiar with the Bible” should know that “Jesus said that you’re going straight to Hell if you didn’t treat the lesser of his brothers and sisters” with compassion. … He said he was hungry, you didn’t give him food stamps, He was thirsty, you didn’t purify the water, he said he was naked, you didn’t give him Social Security.“

Jesus did indeed instruct His followers to care for the poor and needy. But He never once issued this command to the government – only to individuals and the church. Forcibly taking tax money from citizens to be redistributed to others is not compassion, it’s stealing.
