The Patriot Post® · Three Things the GOP Can Do
Like it or not, the government shutdown over defunding ObamaCare isn’t going to end with defunding ObamaCare. But here are three things Republicans can push for to oppose the unpopular and unconstitutional law.
Delay the individual mandate. Barack Obama already unilaterally delayed the employer mandate, and pushing for a delay of the individual one would force Democrats to either go along or explain to their constituents why they favor Big Business over individuals.
Repeal the $29 billion tax on medical device manufacturers. ObamaCare’s 2.3% tax applies to revenue, not profits, and it’s hurting the industry big time. Some 33 Senate Democrats are already on record supporting its repeal, though Harry Reid recently swore to defend the “stupid tax” to the bitter end.
Insist that Congress and their staffers take part in the law they crafted for everyone else. The idea that Congress should lie in the bed they make was a key part of the Gingrich Revolution in the ‘90s, and it’s still a good idea now.
