Defying Obama’s restrictions against non-essential personnel staying on the job as “volunteers,” the Senate Chaplain has been delivering some very harsh words for the members. Chaplain Barry C. Black opened the Senate this week, saying, “We acknowledge our transgressions, our shortcomings, our smugness, our selfishness and our pride. Deliver us from the hypocrisy of attempting to sound reasonable while being unreasonable.” Black retired as a Rear Admiral after serving 27 years as a chaplain and rising to Chief of Chaplains of the United States Navy.
