The Patriot Post® · Debt Deal Loaded With Pork
Wednesday night’s debt deal did more than just end the government shutdown and raise the debt ceiling – it included lots of pork. Some examples: $450 million was approved for flood-ravaged Colorado; $600 million goes toward wildfire containment; $2.455 billion heads to the Veterans Administration inundated with backlogs; and funding for a 20-year-old Kentucky dam project increased to nearly $3 billion. Meanwhile, $174K goes to the widow of former New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg, and just for good measure, the deal “extends an authority for the Department of Defense to continue to support African forces pursuing Joseph Kony and the Lord’s Resistance Army,” Reuters reports. Oh, and getting our fiscal house in order was punted further down the road.
Update: When questioned about the pork, Nancy Pelosi channeled Hillary Clinton, and asked, “What difference does it make?”
