We noted previously how the AP blamed Republicans for the partial shutdown, noting their slide in the polls, but only tangentially mentioning the fact that Obama was at his low watermark of 37% approval. Back in 2006 when President George Bush’s approval rating tanked to 37%, the AP headline read, “Voters down on Bush, Congress, state of nation as Republicans fret.” Further, not one of the major networks nightly news venues mentioned Obama’s rating.
