Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.): “It’s just unimaginable the actions that [Republicans] would turn to, to get their way on a very small and modest bill – Obamacare. We’re talking about universal health care for everybody – single payer, that’s what the new direction is.”

Conyers had a slightly different take in July of 2009: “I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill.’ What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”
