Don’t environmentalists portent to protect the environment? The Start-Telegram says ethanol – the corn subsidy Congress is forcing refineries to mix with fuel – has destroyed millions of acres of land. According to the report, “Five million acres of land set aside for conservation … have vanished on Obama’s watch. … The consequences are so severe that environmentalists and many scientists have now rejected corn-based ethanol as bad environmental policy. But the Obama administration stands by it, highlighting its economic benefits to the farming industry.” (If by “benefits” they mean artificially inflating the cost of food and destroying your car’s engine…) Meanwhile, another study reveals that at least 600,000 bats were decimated by wind turbines just last year. According to biologist Mark Hayes, “This estimate of bat fatalities is probably conservative.”
