Obama’s diversionary $10+ minimum wage proposal has lots of class warfare appeal, but the real winners are his labor union loyalists. Most union contracts have a clause ensuring that any minimum wage increase will also be reflected in their hourly wages, even if these wages are three or four times the minimum wage. In other words, if a union member is paid $40/hour, and the minimum wage is increased $3/hour, then a day later that union wage will be $43/hour. Of course, this is part of the union payback in restitution for the negative impact of O'Care on union benefits and healthcare plans.
