The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) sent letters to state insurance commissioners regarding Obama’s “fix” for his “keep your plan” lie. Basically, the “fix” lays responsibility in part on those insurance commissioners to decide whether they will permit/force insurance companies to continue to sell plans that had previously been cancelled due to ObamaCare regulations. At the end of the letter, the CMS explains how they’ll sweeten the pot for insurers: “Though this transitional policy was not anticipated by health insurers when setting rates for 2014, the risk corridor program should help ameliorate unanticipated changes in premium revenue.” In other words, this is too big to fail and the insurance companies can expect a bailout if they play along. That said, Obama still hopes they don’t play along. Cheaper to blame them than pay them off.
