America’s Health Insurance Plans, described as “the national trade association representing the health insurance industry,” announced this week that individuals will get extra time to pay their first month’s ObamaCare premiums. The deadline, originally Dec. 31, has been extended until Jan. 10 for those enrolled by Dec. 23. This comes following a recommendation from Health and Human Services just last week that insurers grant consumers more time given the technical issues rendering the federal exchange almost useless. AHIP President Karen claims, “Our community is taking an important step to give consumers greater peace of mind about their health care coverage.” Unfortunately, no amount of extensions will fix a model being crushed by government inaptitude.
