Democrat Rep. Elijah Cummings defended Barack Obama after the release of Robert Gates’s book criticizing the commander in chief for sending U.S. troops to fight in Afghanistan when Obama didn’t really believe in the mission. Cummings said that Obama does care about American soldiers, certainly more than George W. Bush: “I know the president. I know he cares about these troops. … I’m glad he maybe had second thoughts [about the mission]. And I cannot say that was the situation always with President Bush.” Bush genuinely cared about the troops. Obama cares only for himself and his own political gain.
