While discussing the lack of impact the State of the Union typically has on international affairs, NBC’s Andrea Mitchell claimed that one exception was George W. Bush’s 2002 address – famous for his “Axis of Evil” line describing Iraq, Iran and North Korea. Mitchell laughably claimed that, up until that speech, “Iran was more or less an American ally.” That would be decidedly “less.” And as far as America turning on an ally, we suppose she should ask the Israelis about Barack Obama.
