It’s not unusual for presidents of both parties to nominate big donors to serve as ambassadors as a little “thank you.” With the Obama administration, however, this practice has reached new levels of absurdity. Obama bundler and nominee to be U.S. Ambassador to Argentina, Noah Mamet, admitted to Congress that while he may be able to find Argentina on a map, he’s never actually been there. “I haven’t had the opportunity yet to be there,” he said. “I’ve traveled pretty extensively around the world, but I haven’t yet had a chance.” Wouldn’t visiting Argentina at least once be useful for someone expecting to represent the U.S. to Argentina?
