In January 2008, Barack Obama said, “Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Coal-powered plants, you know, natural gas, you name it, whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.” Unable to pass cap-and-trade via legislation, Obama turned to the EPA, which has begun a war on coal. Well, Department of Energy official Julio Friedmann told Congress this week that coal regulations could cause electricity prices to rise as much as 80%, which would definitely qualify as “skyrocketing.” That will pair nicely with ObamaCare causing people to work and earn less to pay for that electricity.
