Some Senate Democrats have taken to publicly lobbying the IRS to clamp down on “outside” groups that will spend millions of dollars this election cycle. For our part, we think the IRS has done quite enough with its delays in tax-exempt applications for conservative groups and its added audits of existing groups. And though Democrats certainly had no problem with leftist groups when they ran ads showing Paul Ryan shoving grandma off a cliff, or Mitt Romney killing a woman with cancer, they seem to suffer a case of the vapors when taken to task by conservative groups. Campaign spending is free speech protected by the First Amendment. What are these Democrats afraid of?
