The Patriot Post® · College Text Trashes Reagan
A University of South Carolina textbook significantly revises Ronald Reagan’s legacy, Fox News reports. “‘Introduction to Social Work & Social Welfare: Critical Thinking Perspectives’ portrays the 40th president as a sexist who was insensitive to minorities and whose main accomplishments were cutting taxes, jacking up defense spending and ‘slashing’ social programs. The book states that conservatives like Reagan ‘take a pessimistic view of human nature.’” Real history, however shows that among 1,400 women Regan appointed for positions during his two terms was Sandra Day O'Connor, the first female Supreme Court Justice. And while Reagan was a realist about human nature, he was also one of the most optimistic men to sit in the Oval Office. In other words, the book isn’t rooted in actual history, just leftists’ clouded memories.
