The Patriot Post® · Stalling the Minimum Wage
Senate Leader Harry Reid says the upper chamber won’t move on a minimum wage increase until late March at the earliest. Naturally, he blames Republicans’ “continued obstruction” for slowing down various other measures in the Senate, but part of the problem may also be that a few red state Democrats aren’t quite on board. Only 32 Democrats have co-sponsored Sen. Tom Harkin’s bill. Perhaps that’s because they’re all too aware of the CBO report that raising the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour – a 40% hike over today’s rate – would cost 500,000 jobs.
