As if to illustrate the absurdity of last week’s kerfuffle in Arizona, the Walt Disney Company is planning to cut funding for the Boy Scouts of America because of the latter’s decision to retain its ban on homosexual scout leaders. According to the Associated Press, “Disney does not provide direct funding to the Boy Scouts, but it donates money to some troops in exchange for volunteer hours completed by Disney employees.” A spokesman for the nation’s largest homosexual advocacy groups, the so-called “Human Rights Campaign,” proclaimed, “When you think about brands that exemplify childhood, you think of Disney, and with them dissociating with BSA, it speaks volumes of where we are with the views we want to send to young people.” Unfortunately, yes it does speak volumes.
