Sen. James Inhofe is a noted climate change skeptic who also has a problem with wasteful government spending. In a hearing on the Defense Department’s FY2015 budget, he noted that the commander in chief has squandered $120 billion fighting phantom WMD when that money could be better spent on the constitutional obligation of national defense. “In the last five years, between 2009 and 2014,” said Inhofe, “the president has spent $120 billion on the environmental agenda, mostly global warming, climate and that type of thing. And in that respect, if you’ll just take the amount that was not authorized by Congress – and I’m talking about the environmental agenda – you could actually buy 1,400 F-35s.” Then again, F-35s burn jet fuel which causes warming. Or something.
