“Hundreds of new federal rules and regulations and those on the books for years are now under review and may be junked under a ‘look-back’ program President Obama created to offer businesses relief from costly and burdensome rules that just don’t work,” reports the Washington Examiner. The Office of Management and Budget Director Sylvia Mathews Burwell says 500 regulations will be under the microscope, and she says agencies will be asked, “Can you go back and look at the things you think there might be contention on?” We have a few hundred thousand suggestions. The administration estimates this could save $12 billion. But since when have we looked to government as a benevolent master for reducing regulations?
