Washington businessman Jeffrey Thompson illegally funneled millions of dollars to several DC and federal office holders. Among the recipients of his money was Hillary Clinton, whose 2008 presidential bid deposited over $600,000 of Thompson’s “off the books” money. Now, former Clintonista and current Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, who was Clinton’s campaign chair in 2008, is refusing to answer questions about his own campaign receipts from Thompson. He received $2,500 from Thompson in 2009. Our bet is that McAuliffe knows something about Clinton’s receipts – he is the Clinton fundraising guy, after all. So if he does answer anything, it’ll be along the lines of, “I plead the Fifth.”
