A 4.4-magnitude earthquake rattled Los Angeles earlier this week, leaving Democrats scrambling for any excuse to blame the Right. And while global warming isn’t the supposed culprit this time around, officials are blaming another activity commonly trashed by climate alarmists: hydrologic fracturing. According to a motion drafted by council members Paul Koretz, Mike Bonin and Bernard Parks, “All high-pressure fracking and injection creates ‘seismic events.’ … It is crucial to the health and safety of the City’s residents to understand the seismic impacts of oil and gas extraction activities in the City.” The council asked city, state and federal officials to investigate the possibility of any link between the two. By leftist logic, this week’s quake is an unprecedented development in quake-prone California’s long history of earthquakes.
