The Patriot Post® · NYSP Alter SAFE Guide
On December 31, a federal court struck down New York’s seven-round magazine limit included in the state’s SAFE Act. In response, the New York State Police department is altering their NY SAFE Act Guide to reflect the nullification; officers are now being advised to refuse enforcement of the measure. Thomas King, president of the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, who’s leading the charge against the imposition, was pleased with the development, but admits there’s more work to do: “[W]e are prepared to fight the NY SAFE Act all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court where we are confident that many provisions of the law will ultimately be overturned.” Indeed, despite this measure’s being struck down, the 10-round magazine ban was upheld by the same court, and residents are still required to register “assault weapons,” a clear violation of the Second Amendment. The fight continues until this entire Act is shot down.
