A new report on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) depicts an agency that’s (still) not exactly doing its job. Last year, nearly 68,000 illegal alien convicts, or “35% of the criminal aliens” guilty of non-traffic misdemeanors and felonies, were released back into the states following confrontations with ICE officials, according to the Center for Immigration Studies. All told, “ICE charged only 195,000, or 25 percent, out of 722,000 potentially deportable aliens they encountered,” writes Jessica Vaughan. Most disturbingly, “ICE agents and officers have been instructed to ignore convictions for state crimes if the conviction occurred under a state law that the administration opposes or thinks is too harsh.” Sound familiar? This entire administration, led by Eric Holder’s Justice Department, routinely practice such indifference toward Rule of Law, and exploiting criminal behavior for political gain is hardly new. Recall that Holder intentionally placed weapons into the hands of criminal aliens. Too bad we can’t ask Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry about that.
