CNN’s Michael Smerconish, vying for recently ditched Pier’s Morgan seat, added to the network’s seemingly endless repertoire of utterly stupid remarks concerning missing Malaysian flight 370 believed to have crashed somewhere in the southern Indian Ocean. “Is there potentially a silver lining in all of this, that there will be a worldwide cause of action to clean up the oceans and for there to be less polluting, greater fines, more regulation?” asked Smerconish to Marc Lallanilla, editor of LiveScience.com. “I think so,” Lallanilla replied. “That’s something all of us are hoping for.” This would hardly be CNN’s first time exploiting tragedies; in fact, Smerconish would fit right into the shoes left vacant by ever-distasteful charlatan Piers Morgan.
