Last year, Christie Hefner asserted that global warming was to blame for Chicago’s homicide epidemic. “There is a dramatic increase in gun violence when it is warmer,” she said, “and we are having this climate change effect that is driving that.” Not only has the globe not observed any warming for nearly two decades, but the Windy City is trying to thaw out following this winter season’s prolonged record-setting chill. According to the National Weather Service office in Chicago, “[T]he average temperature for the December through March period in Chicago [was] 22.0 degrees, which is the coldest such period on record for Chicago dating back to 1872!” This, too, is surely a side effect of man-made fossil fuels.
