The Patriot Post® · Walmart and Harvard
Walmart is a favorite target for many these days. Recall when a firestorm erupted over the retail giant’s plans to set up shop in Washington, DC? Well, when all was said and done, Walmart received more than 23,000 applications for 600 jobs at its store there. The hire rate was then just 2.6%, and the amusing thing is, as The Washington Post’s Christopher Ingraham points out, that’s “twice as selective as Harvard’s and over five times as choosy as Cornell.” So it’s far easier to nab a spot in the Ivory Tower than it is to land a job.
