Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) “couldn’t be happier” to run on the amazing achievements of ObamaCare. But asked to point to any single achievement as part of the upcoming confirmation hearings for the new HHS secretary, Whitehouse stumbled. “Over and over again,” he began bumbling, “people still on the uh… health care benefits from uh, the… um… um… of the seniors who are… uh… getting their, uh, pharmaceuticals paid for… I’m struggling for the, for the – donut hole! There we go!” Retreating to empty platitudes, Whitehouse managed to add, “It’s been very good for most Rhode Islanders, and there are good stories for people to tell out there, and we think this is going to be a great opportunity to tell the real human stories, and not just the political attack ad lines that the Republican Party is bring to this conversation.” Maybe if Democrats could honestly say that ObamaCare hasn’t made our health system worse, it wouldn’t be so hard to have this conversation.
