Western Washington University (WWU) asked its students, “How do we make sure that in future years ‘we are not as white as we are today?’” In 2012, school president Bruce Shepard said, “Every year, from this stage and at this [convocation] time, you have heard me say that, if in decades ahead, we are as white as we are today, we will have failed as a university.” Well, since this seems to be what he means, he could always try saying even more plainly, “Whites need not apply.”
