The Patriot Post® · Dangerous Right-Wingers
CNN “national security analyst” Peter Bergen thinks the political Right in America is more dangerous than al-Qaida. “[S]ince 9/11 extremists affiliated with a variety of far-right wing ideologies … have killed more people in the United States than have extremists motivated by al Qaeda’s ideology,” he writes. “According to a count by the New America Foundation, right wing extremists have killed 34 people in the United States for political reasons since 9/11. (The total includes the latest shootings in Kansas, which are being classified as a hate crime). By contrast, terrorists motivated by al Qaeda’s ideology have killed 23 people in the United States since 9/11.” Bergen is also the guy who couldn’t wait to blame the Boston Marathon bombings on right-wing extremists. Of course, how you define your ideologies has a lot to do with it, and Bergen basically argues that if you murder people for political reasons you’re a right-winger. We wouldn’t include neo-Nazi racists like the one in Kansas on the limited government end of the political spectrum.
