New York gun owners had until Tuesday, April 15, to register “assault” weapons with the state. But similar to last month’s group of residents who acted in civil disobedience by burning around a thousand registration forms, protesters staged yet another revolt on Tax Day against New York’s SAFE Act – a knee-jerk proposal signed into law following the Sandy Hook tragedy that, needless to say, is in direct violation of the Second Amendment. WIVB reports, “Protesters shredded registration documents in front of the Walter J. Mahoney State Office Building during a protest from 4:30 to 7:00 PM Tuesday – symbolic, they say, of how state lawmakers ‘shredded’ their Constitutional rights.”
