Providing Digs for the Terrorists
Jihadis occupy a U.S. training base in Libya.
In 2012, the U.S. Army refurbished a Libyan military base not far from Tripoli as a place to train anti-jihadi efforts. But when Barack Obama “led from behind” and aided in ousting Moammar Gadhafi, he left a power vacuum in Libya. It’s being filled by jihadis, and they now have a new training facility – the same one the U.S. paid to refurbish. Ibrahim Ali Abu Bakr Tantoush, a veteran associate of Osama bin Laden, now commands the facility. This isn’t unprecedented, but it does illustrate the chaos into which Libya has fallen, and that U.S. national security interests weren’t served by the commander in chief’s strategy.
