Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has likely scuttled this week’s vote on the Keystone XL pipeline by rejecting Republican calls to vote on GOP-sponsored amendments. “If they want to vote on Keystone, they can have a vote on Keystone, but enough is enough,” he griped. If Republicans bow to Reid’s ultimatum, they can have a vote. The Obama administration has stalled and stalled again on approving the pipeline, to the point that some Democrats who are vulnerable in November are pushing for congressional legislation giving the go-ahead. It’s doubtful that there are enough Democrats to reach the 60-vote threshold, and, therefore, the pipeline will remain sidelined instead of contributing to economic growth. But hey, political gain for Democrats.
