Charlie Crist, the former Republican governor of Florida, spoke this week about a revelation he had while running for the Republican nomination for Senate: The GOP is racist. “I couldn’t be consistent with myself and my core beliefs and stay with the party,” he said. “I saw how the party – some of them – were treating the African-American president, and I couldn’t take it anymore.” Of course, Crist discovered this right about the time he was set to lose to Marco Rubio. Now he’s a Democrat seeking the governor’s mansion again. And never mind the flip-flops on various issues that came with his party switch, he says, “Now that I’m liberated as a Democrat, my true soul is able to be seen, and I couldn’t be happier about it.” Spoken like a true narcissist.
