Michael Sam is set to be the NFL’s first openly homosexual player after being drafted by the St. Louis Rams. Sam “came out” while staring as an all-SEC defensive end for the Missouri Tigers. He didn’t impress enough at the combines (tryouts) to merit being chosen higher than the seventh round, but many in the Leftmedia were eager to attribute that to “homophobia” in the NFL. It’s just a taste of the media circus Sam will bring to St. Louis – whether he can actually play football in the NFL is secondary. What’s amazing is the double standard when compared to, say, Tim Tebow, who was roundly criticized for his outspoken Christian faith during his brief NFL career. We’ll see if Sam actually makes it on the merits – like everyone else in the league has to.
