Thirty years ago, David Tran fled Vietnam, away from its communist government. He started Huy Fong Foods, maker of the oriental-style hot sauce Sriracha (which is an awesome condiment according to an informal poll done in The Patriot Post office). But recently, Tran ran afoul with California politicians because of the spicy smell his factory emitted. At one point, he was almost forced to shut down his Sriracha-making operation. He says California government intrusions are like that of communist Vietnam. “Today, I feel almost the same. Even now, we live in [the] USA, and my feeling, the government – not a big difference,” Tran told NPR. More…
