U.S. Congressman John Conyers (MI-D) faces a hurdle in his re-election campaign. The 24-time representative found out too late he did not collect enough legitimate signatures to place his name on the ballot. Some of his campaign volunteers who collected signatures were not registered voters – a necessity under Michigan law – which rendered many signatures invalid. Now Conyers is suing the state to place his name on the ballot, perhaps under the assumption that time in office justifies not following campaign laws to the letter. More…
